I will be presenting at the City Reliquary on August 25th at 7pm, Thursday. This event will announce the continuation of my collaboration with Newtown Creek Alliance to fabricate a floating wetlands / hydroponic experiment in the English Kills basin. The talk covers the history and evolution of the EKP, provides templates for designing wetlands and public access and reveals the videos of the aquatic life of English Kills and Newtown Creek.

You are also invited to an after party, two blocks away, at Woodhull Wine Bar. Come to the talk to learn about the life and conditions of English Kills. Come to the after party to wish me a bon-voyage on my move to Houston at the end of the month!

The EKP will be participating in the Arts in Bushwick's 4th Annual Community Day on Sunday, June 5, 12-6PM at Irving Square Park (Brooklyn/Queens). I will have a table with information, videos, Newtown Creek Alliance maps and a "cast of characters!" There is a long line up of kids activities and performances by musicians, artists, and poets in the park. Visit local artists in our art market, let the kids run around, and participate in performance art with your neighbors. Art Market and kids activities start at noon, stage performances begin at 2pm. Join us at 1:30pm for a group photo with Nick McManus.

Irving Square Park (Brooklyn/Queens) is bordered by Weirfield Street, Halsey Street, Knickerbocker Avenue and Wilson Avenue.

The EKP will present a new workshop at Lantern Hall, February 28th at 7pm. New drawing templates for mussel habitats will be presented for participants to draft designs. Videos of killifish, shrimp and mussels will reveal an ecosystem that exists even in the most polluted waterways.

“Just as there is no way to reach infinity, there is no such thing as perfection. But, Nature is pretty damn close. This perfection didn't happen over night. 6 billion years is a substantial chunk of time. Yes it's true, probably most of the 6 billion people that walk the earth at this meet know the earth is very old. But it isn't totally incomprehensible for a mere human to really understand 6 billon years. Nature depends on time. Does time depend on nature? Wait that's another show idea.. This show is about artists that trip out on nature. Work made by artists that can't help but to incorporate nature into their art, one way or another. This exhibition focuses on work made from natural materials like leaves and sea shells, or art made by natural forces like the wind and deterioration. These artists don't mimic nature, instead they tap into its artifacts and cycles.” - Tyrome Tripoli, Curator.

Then come to Kings County Saloon, this coming Monday night, July 13th, 7-9pm, 2 blocks from the Morgan stop, L train. Filmmaker, Michael Intile is creating a video profile about me and my project for the BRIC art media organization BRIC.

We will video a public planning workshop. “What do you want to see in English Kills?” Come design new wetlands! Design a park or open space! Design islands of Mussels! And most importantly: Design public access to a public waterway!

3pm: "What do you want to see in English Kills?" - The English Kills Project and Manuals for Public Spaces (Matej Vakula) collaborate to begin planning with the residents of Bushwick and visitors of BOS to create an open space, public access, man-made wetlands and mussel islands in English Kills in the aim to bio-remediate a Superfund site. Participants have the chance to work with aerial maps and shapes to create their own vision for English Kills. Everyone is invited re-imagine this site to be more sustainable habitat for plants, humans and non-human animals.

          Interspersed between the round table discussion and public space planning sessions are bio-remediation workshops conducted by the English Kills Project’s Dr. Sarah Durand and Willis Elkins of the Newtown Creek Alliance. They to share ideas and methods for bio-remediation of Newtown Creek and it tributaries. Much needed information will be on hand about the Superfund process and how Bushwick and East Willamsburg resident can get involved. The North Brooklyn Boat will also have information available.

         Throughout the days events Clakula (Ashley Clark and Valuka) bring to life the world of ribbed mussels in an urban environment! Special guest appearance by Edward the Egret.

         The English Kills Project will continuously show videos of the state of English Kills during the weekend.
